Budget Musings Update

July 30, 2007 / by newsjunkie365

Governor Easley (D) says he will sign the 20 billion dollar North Carolina state budget.

The House approved the budget today by a vote 64-52 and the Senate approved it by a vote of 31-19.

Democrats are praising the budget (surprise, surprise) saying it will improve education, health care research, and shift Medicaid costs from each county by mid 2009. The Dems hold the majority in both General Assembly chambers.

Nearly all Republicans in the General Assembly opposed the plan saying it spends 9.5 percent more than last years budget plan. More than double what is needed for the state.

I am of the belief that the state can AND SHOULD spend less of our taxpayer dollars. I for one believe it does not take 20 billion dollars to run a state the size of North Carolina. The politicians should reign in spending because the budget could lead to their demise!
